Dining out with kids is a lot easier when dinner comes with something extra.
Maybe it’s a free kids meal. Maybe there’s an arcade, a play corner, a giant Connect Four game, cornhole outside — or even a bucket and shovel so little ones can play in the sand while parents finish dinner.
We asked local families where they actually enjoy taking their kids, and they had some great suggestions. We combined those community recommendations with restaurant information to create this growing guide to family-friendly dining around Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, North Port and Englewood.
Please note: Restaurant promotions, prices and amenities can change. If you’re making a special trip for a particular deal or activity, check with the restaurant first.

🥩 Cody’s Original Roadhouse
1441 S. Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte • Kids Eat Free Tuesday

A local parent shared Cody’s weekly specials with us, including a great one for families: kids 10 and under eat FREE Tuesday night, with one kids meal available with the purchase of an adult entrée. Cody’s casual roadhouse atmosphere makes it an easy option when you want a sit-down dinner without taking energetic kids somewhere overly formal.

🎮 Kidstar Park
18505 Paulson Dr., Port Charlotte • Eat + Play
If your kids have trouble sitting through a restaurant meal, this may be the place for them. Kidstar Park is much more than a restaurant — families can eat at Stars Bistro and make an entire outing out of the visit. Depending on what’s operating during your visit, attractions include arcade games, go-karts, blacklight mini golf, laser-style games and indoor play attractions.

🌴 The Bean Depot Café & Museum
4370 Garden Rd., Port Charlotte • Outdoor Games & Old Florida Fun

This one came directly from recommendations by local families. Parents mentioned cornhole, kids toys and outdoor space, giving children something to do instead of spending the entire visit sitting at the table. Add the Old Florida atmosphere and live entertainment, and this is a very different family outing from a typical chain restaurant.
Why families may like it:
- 🎯 Cornhole
- 🧸 Kids toys
- 🌴 Outdoor space
- 🎵 Live entertainment
- 👨👩👧 Casual atmosphere
🏈 Seven Grill Sports Bar
1100 El Jobean Rd., Port Charlotte • Watch for Kids Eat Free Cards

Seven Grill joined our community conversation and told us they’re family friendly and will be handing out Kids Eat Free cards around the community. This isn’t necessarily a standing weekly Kids Eat Free promotion, so keep an eye out for the promotional cards rather than assuming the offer is available every day.
Why families may like it:
- 💰 Kids Eat Free card promotions
- 🏈 Casual sports atmosphere
- 👨👩👧 Local family-friendly option
📍 Punta Gorda
🎮 Beef ‘O’ Brady’s
1105 Taylor Rd., Punta Gorda • Game Room
Several parents recommended Beef ‘O’ Brady’s, and one feature makes the Punta Gorda location particularly interesting for families: there’s a game/arcade room. Kids can play while parents enjoy dinner or catch a game on TV. A parent also mentioned a possible Sunday Kids Eat Free promotion — we haven’t confirmed that current deal, so check directly with the restaurant before visiting specifically for Kids Eat Free.
Why families may like it:

- 🍔 Kids menu
- 📺 Sports for adults
- 👨👩👧 Casual family atmosphere
🍕 Hungry Howie’s – Punta Gorda
Punta Gorda • A Pizza Place With a Kids Play Corner

This was one of our favorite discoveries from local parents. After the Punta Gorda lobby reopened, a parent shared photos showing a little children’s area inside, including a kid-size ride-on car, pretend pizza-making toys, a child-size picnic table, a giant Connect Four-style game, and toys for little ones. For parents of toddlers and preschoolers, having something for kids to do while waiting for pizza can make a big difference.
Why families may like it:
- 🍕 Pizza
- 🧸 Play corner
- 🚗 Toys
- 🎲 Giant games
- 👶 Especially fun for younger kids
🏝️ The Islands PG
Punta Gorda • Free Fries + $7 Kids Meals + Toy + Books
This was another great find because the restaurant itself shared details about what it does for young guests. According to The Islands PG, kids receive free fries when they sit down, kids meals are $7, kids receive a toy after their meal, and there’s a little library with children’s books kids can take home. That first detail may be particularly appreciated by parents of hungry little kids — they have something to snack on while waiting for dinner.
Why families may like it:
- 🍟 Free fries
- 💰 $7 kids meals
- 🧸 Toy after the meal
- 📚 Take-home books
- ❤️ Lots of little touches designed for children

📍 North Port
🍗 Wings and Rings
1081 W. Price Blvd., North Port • Kids Eat Free + Arcade
North Port families get a particularly good combination here. Kids 10 and under eat FREE Mondays and Fridays with a qualifying adult purchase. Even better for families: this location also lists an arcade among its amenities — one of the strongest combinations in our guide when parents want to save money AND give the kids something to do.

📍 Englewood & Manasota Key
🏖️ SandBar Tiki & Grille
1975 Beach Rd., Englewood • Sand Play + Kids Bucket + Live Music
This may be one of the most fun finds in the entire guide. A local mom told us her boys love SandBar because the kids can color and play in the sand while the family is there. She also shared that the kids meal comes with a pail and shovel — perfect for the restaurant’s beachy setting. Add family games and live music, and dinner starts feeling more like a mini Florida vacation.
Why families may like it:
- 🏖️ Sand play
- 🪣 Kids meal with pail and shovel
- 🎨 Coloring
- 🎯 Family games
- 🎵 Live music
- 🌴 Florida beach atmosphere
🏖️ Lock ‘N Key Restaurant
Englewood • Kids Menu + Beach
Sometimes the best kid-friendly feature isn’t inside the restaurant. Lock ‘N Key is located right by Englewood Beach, making it easy to combine lunch or an early dinner with a family beach outing.
Why families may like it:
- 🍔 Kids menu
- 🏖️ Englewood Beach nearby
- 🌴 Easy addition to a beach day

🌊 Ken & Barb’s Grove City Kitchen

Why families may like it:
- 🍔 Kids menu

🍦 Sweet Treats With Something Extra
Dinner isn’t the only family outing that counts. Local parents also pointed us toward a couple of Englewood ice cream shops where kids can get a little entertainment along with their dessert.
🍦 Arctic Alligator Creamery & Bakery
Englewood • Ice Cream + Claw Machine
Parents recommended Arctic Alligator as a fun local ice cream stop and pointed out one particularly important detail if you’re bringing kids: there’s a claw machine!
Why families may like it:
- 🍦 Ice cream
- 🎮 Claw machine
- 👨👩👧 Easy family dessert stop
🍨 A Better Scoop Ice Cream Shoppe
Englewood • Ice Cream + Claw Machine

Another Englewood favorite recommended by local families. Parents told us A Better Scoop also has a claw machine, making an ice cream run a little more exciting for kids. It’s an easy stop after dinner, a beach day or whenever everyone needs a treat.

☕ One More Local Recommendation: Junior & Rosie’s Cafe & Grille
Junior & Rosie’s was also specifically recommended by a local parent when we asked about places families enjoy with their kids. We’re keeping it on our community list while we gather more details about what families particularly enjoy there. If Junior & Rosie’s is one of your family’s favorites, tell us what your kids love about it!
🍟 What About McDonald’s and Chick-fil-A Playgrounds?
We checked these too — because sometimes parents aren’t looking for an elaborate dining experience. Sometimes we just want a kids meal, an indoor playground and enough time to finish our coffee.
Unfortunately, not every McDonald’s has a PlayPlace anymore, and not every Chick-fil-A has a playground. At the time we prepared this guide, we couldn’t reliably confirm an open play area at the McDonald’s or Chick-fil-A locations within our immediate coverage area, so we don’t want to send families somewhere specifically for a playground that may no longer be there.
Know one we missed? If you know of a McDonald’s with a PlayPlace, Chick-fil-A with a playground, Burger King with a play area, or a local restaurant with an actual kids room in Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, North Port, Englewood or Rotonda West, let us know. We’ll check it out and keep growing this guide.
❤️ Help Us Keep This Guide Growing
Restaurants change, specials come and go, and sometimes the best kid-friendly places aren’t the ones that show up first in an online search. That’s why local parents are such an important part of this guide.
We’re always looking for restaurants with Kids Eat Free nights, discounted kids meals, playgrounds, arcades, toys, kids activities, family nights and other little touches that make eating out easier — and more fun — with children.
Have a favorite we missed? Send your recommendation to Macaroni KID Port Charlotte–Punta Gorda–Englewood–North Port.

❤️ Special Thanks to Mr. Len & Charlotte County Eats
A special thank-you to Mr. Len, administrator of the Charlotte County Eats Facebook group, for helping us put this guide together and allowing us to reach out to his community for recommendations.
Charlotte County Eats isn’t specifically a kids dining group. It’s a local community for people looking for all kinds of restaurants in our area — whether you’re searching for somewhere to take the kids, a casual lunch, a new local discovery or a restaurant for an adults’ night out.
What makes the group especially useful is that it isn’t an advertising space. Instead, members share their own experiences, photos, recommendations and honest opinions about local restaurants.
Many of the little details that make this guide useful — where kids can play in the sand, which pizza place has a play corner, where you’ll find an arcade or claw machine, and which restaurants go the extra mile for children — came directly from members of this local community.
Thank you, Mr. Len, for helping us connect with local diners, and thank you to everyone in Charlotte County Eats who shared their recommendations and helped us create this guide for local families! ❤️
