Real-life pilot alert! ✈️ Students at Deep Creek Elementary in Punta Gorda got a special classroom visit from internationally acclaimed aerobatic pilot Aarron Deliu, one of the featured performers at the 2026 Florida International Air Show, coming to Punta Gorda Airport November 7–8.

Flying lessons from the pro
Standing beside a big screen of flight footage and cockpit views, Deliu answered the kids' (many!) questions, pointed out what happens during each maneuver, and shared what it's like to perform at air shows around the world.
He introduced students to the nimble Extra 330SC he flies and explained his interactive cockpit-to-ground commentary — at the show, spectators can actually hear him talk during the flight and follow the action from the pilot's seat.

Autographs and high-fives
The visit ended on a personal note: Deliu signed a photo for every student, leaning across the classroom tables — and there were plenty of smiles and even a high-five from kids who now get to see "their" pilot perform next month.

Read books, earn free air show admission 📚
The visit is part of the Air Show's education outreach led by Deelynn Bennett, director of education and STEM. Through the Jet, Set, Read program — in partnership with Charlotte County Community Services and the Charlotte Community Foundation — school-aged kids explore aviation-themed books. Kids who complete the "Earn Your Wings Reading Challenge" can earn free admission to the 2026 air show!
