What happens when two adventurous friends blast off for the Moon?

The Adventures of Titus & Tori: Countdown to the Moon takes young readers on an imaginative journey inspired by the real-life space explorers and Apollo missions that made history.

Eight-year-old Leo recently read the book and shared his honest opinion. Keep reading to discover his favorite parts—and learn how you and a friend can each receive a free digital copy!

Meet Titus and Tori

Titus is bored, but Tori has a big idea. Before they know it, the two friends are blasting off on an exciting journey to the Moon.

They zoom through space, bounce across the lunar surface, and discover a world filled with wonder. Along the way, the story celebrates friendship, imagination, dreaming big, exploring the past, and discovering the many ways we can communicate and connect.

When Leo first saw the book, his reaction was immediate:

“It’s a dog!”

The animal characters and colorful illustrations quickly caught his attention and made him want to find out what would happen next.

An Adventure Inspired by Real History

The adventure of Titus and Tori is fictional, but the book also introduces children to the real history of space exploration.

Leo especially enjoyed learning why astronauts can bounce and jump higher on the Moon. Because the Moon has much less gravity than Earth, moving across its surface can feel a little like jumping on a trampoline.

The book also includes real images connected to space exploration, including astronauts and a lunar rover. These details help children connect the characters’ imaginative adventure with the people and missions that explored the Moon in real life.

Leo’s Favorite Part

Leo’s favorite part was watching Titus and Tori travel through space and explore the lunar surface.

When asked whether he would recommend the book to other children, Leo said:

“Yes, because it’s fun, and they ride on the Moon!”

He especially enjoyed the pictures, the Moon adventure, and learning new facts about space.

More Than Just a Story

As a parent, I appreciated that the book entertained Leo while encouraging him to ask questions.

It gave us an opportunity to talk about:

  • The difference between fiction and nonfiction
  • The Apollo missions
  • How gravity works on the Moon
  • What astronauts need in space
  • Where people might travel next

When I asked Leo which planet he would like to explore after the Moon, he immediately chose Mars.

Leo’s Rating

  2. What would you pack for your journey?
  3. What would you explore first?
  4. Would you like to try jumping in the Moon’s low gravity?
  5. Which planet would you like to visit next?
